After preparing the Elevation Certificate, Realworks can let you know if your property meets FEMA's criteria to be removed from the Special Flood Hazard Area, and how likely it is that we can get your property removed from the

If a property has been incorrectly placed in a Flood Zone, a request can be submitted to FEMA, along with a Flood Elevation Certificate, for a LOMA (Letter of Map Amendment).

Not all properties within a flood zone are equal.

The determining factor as to whether or not your property will be flooded is based upon its elevation.  Unforturnately, the flood maps issued by FEMA are broad based and do not evaluate the actual elevations of the individual properties within a flood zone. 

Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA)

  • A letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) is a letter from FEMA stating that a specific property/structure has been removed from the Special Flood Hazard Area.
  • An Elevation Certificate must be submitted with a LOMA Filing.
